 Artistic Ownership - The Relationship Between The Actor And The Playwright In Rehearsal and Performance

Abstract:

In this piece my intention was to investigate the nature of artistic ownership in the theatre and, in particular, to look at the relationship between the work of the playwright and the actor in contemporary dramatic art. To this end,  I endeavoured to review current thinking, literary criticism, theatre theory, performance theory and approaches to actor training in 2006, focusing on the work of three contemporary actors working in the fields of theatre, film and television.
