The Lonely Sea and the Sky        ( a film)

On a lonely beach on the island of Portland, Dorset, Julie is looking for clues to her dead mother’s past. Why did the magical childhood of two little girls disappear along with their dreams of dancing and mermaids?

As it unwinds the film tells of a loss of innocence and growing disappointment.

Armed only with a photograph album, bequeathed to her by her mother, Julie tries to piece together these snapshots of her mother’s past.

A chance meeting with Christine changes everything and the photograph album becomes the key that will unlock both their lives forever.

At the heart of this film is the sense of loss felt by both Christine and Julie; their feelings are different but coalesce around the character of Mary-Jane.

Christine, ends up having to confront herself; rediscovering the child she once was and having to come to terms with the woman she has become.
