Sheep Love To Die

Longlisted for the Theatre 503 International Playwright's Award 2020 in a previous version - then known as 'The Derelict Sisters'

I feel like we’ve been shifted sideways. Here but not. Slid invisibly out from somewhere to somewhere else. Slipped out of the loop. The gears no longer engaged. Like we're freewheeling.”

  • Evelyn and Constance are two elderly sisters quietly living their own lives until suddenly, on one fateful afternoon, their world is shaken by events.
  • But, have Evelyn and Constance always been, out of sync with the world and each other?
  • The Derelict Sisters is something of a meditation on life and death. The question…Is Death something to fear? Or is ‘Living’ more often the problem?
  • Janey has a dream, but is it shared by Steve, and will his loyalty to Daz bring her brave, new world crashing down?
  • ‘The past is a foreign country, they do things differently there’ but the consequences can live long after. Will Evelyn, Constance, Steve and Darren choose to ignore or confront their past?
  • Pat Kavanagh is a man who has dedicated himself to business and making money through any means necessary. But does his public face mask a real sense of personal grief and private pain?
  • Can Radio 4 really be the key to understanding ‘Life, the Universe and Everything’?
  • ‘Time is a great healer’, they say. But is it a straight line, a curve or, indeed, a loop?
