Earlier this year I submitted 'The Furrow' for this award, and I'm delighted to announce that it won one of two Runner Up awards and gets a professionally directed and performed rehearsed reading at The Mercury Theatre in Colchester on 7th July at 7pm with a Q and A after. Tickets can be ordered from the Mercury Theatre Website. Click on the picture below to see the press release put out by the Mercury Theatre about the awards.

The Furrow' began life at Sussex University where I was required to write an original full length play as part of my final paper for the MA in Dramatic Writing. It has come a long way since then and the version that won here is the one that is featured on this website in My Plays @ Treepress.
Based on the 'family' paintings of the artist Paula Rego and set in Ireland in an Anglo-Irish household in 1912, the play explores a world which is sometimes described as ... 'the last, lost Raj in the rain', a world which in many ways works as an allegory for now.
The play describes a world where... A young woman prepares for her wedding, as her mother drifts towards death in an upstairs room. Meanwhile her crippled sister prowls the corridors with mischief in her heart and her maid plots a terrible revenge.
